Scrum@Scale 03.06. - 04.06.2020 in Cologne

In this two-day course, we'll look at the scrum@scale framework of Jeff Sutherland, the co-founder of Scrum, in more detail: What does it do?  How does it work, and how does it differ from other agile scaling frameworks?  On the basis of practical insights from trainer and participants, we will elaborate tools and procedures in many practical exercises, such as the Heat Map, that will allow you to apply the content right after the course in your own working context and company.

Your Scrum@Scale training in Cologne

Scrum@Scale consists of twelve focal topics or components, which we will cover step by step. After each focal topic, the participant will self-assess their own organization based on the following questions: How important is the focus and how mature is the organization?  These twelve "Assessments" will then results in the so-called "Heat Map" which shows exactly how to start and where to continue with an agile transition in their company.  For many of these topics, we will do exercises that deepen the learning furthermore, and often lead to moments of Aha. Most of the exercises can be easily repeated by the participants in their organization and further discussed with colleagues.

The declared aim is to understand each of the 12 key aspects or components and to have every participants evaluate their importance and maturity for their own company.

  • Team-level process
  • Continuous improvement process
  • Coordination between teams
  • Provision / Deployment
  • Release and product
  • Metrics and Transparency
  • Executive Action Team (EAT)
  • Executive Meta Scrum (EMS)
  • Strategic vision
  • Backlog prioritization

This training is suitable for executives at all level and for those who are working on the Agile Transition, e.g. ScrumMaster, Product Owner, Team Leader, Manager, DepartmentManager, Executive, etc. Nevertheless, the training course is a “must” for consultants and coaches who guide companies on their journey towards agility. Even if you are familiar to another framework, the Scrum@Scale course gives you a lot of inspiration and helps you to ask yourself the right questions about scaled agility. For example, "When does it actually make sense to think about Agile Scaling"? "What requirements should be met before tackling the scaling?"

Trainer

Klaus Bucka-Lassen has worked for companies in Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, England, Australia, USA and Canada. As a computer scientist, project manager, agile coach and consultant, he has been working in all sectors for 25 years. He relies on a very broad experience. All stories are self-made experiences. Klaus regularly receives a maximum referral rate of 100%.

The objective of the training is to give participants as much knowledge and insights as possible. The training makes use of training techniques that rely on the participants’ involvement. As a stakeholder you have a decisive influence on the order in which we go through the twelve focal points: More important first, less important later.

This course enables the participants to complete a certificate. For this you have to take and pass an online multiple-choice test, directly after the course and within 30 days (at least 23 out of 30 questions have to be answered correctly;  the use of books, course material etc. is permitted).

The cost of this test is included in the course fee.

After completing this course, you will receive 16 SEUs (Scrum Education Units, Scrum Alliance) and 16 PDUs (Professional DevelopmentUnits, PMI).

All the slides and the material developed by the participants, will behanded after the course. In addition, instructions e.g. the different exercises can be repeated in your own company. As an participant, you can pass on much of what you have learned in this course to your colleagues.

The heat map represents a transitional backlog. This backlog describes independently how your own organization can become more agile. These steps are prioritized by costs over benefits, so that anyone can start on the day after the course to help their company with concrete steps to become more agile.
